about

"Six years ago, Kerry, Gordon, and caller Steve Zakon played their first contra dance as Fresh Fish in Dublin, NH, and have since played for dances, festivals, and music and dance camps throughout the country. Joined by Danny in 1989, the FISH play dance music that combines the melodic influence of Irish session with a rhythm section influenced by many diverse sources, not the least of which is years of playing for dancers. For Turning of the Tide, the trio is joined by Dirk, David, and Ruthie to recreate the band sound of many late night dance camp sets.

Our thanks to all those musicians who have shared their music with us, and to the dancers and listeners who have inspired and encouraged us. We hope you enjoy the music."

No proceeds from this album will be kept by ‘Alalā Books. Details are still TBD, but it will be donated either to a contra dance- or multiple sclerosis-related fund. Paying the Bandcamp minimum will let you listen to the album in the Bandcamp app, and helps to get the word out (Bandcamp does not show freely-downloaded albums in users' "collections"). Have yet to figure out exactly how to be transparent about this, and how to publicize any resulting donations. Feel free to contact Henry via the contact form at alalabooks.bandcamp.com for more information.
