Blue Hill to Santa Barbara, Tallahassee to Vancouver, Rochester grange halls to Glen Echo ballrooms; wooden floors, wooden stages; fiddles, flutes, banjos, accordions, pianos, guitars, basses; new tunes and chestnuts; jigs and reels, rhythm and melody, contra, squares, circles, polkas, waltzes, hambos; old friends and new; musicians, dancers, callers; hands four: dance.
The music presented here is music we play for New England style dancing. While most of the tunes in this collection come from places outside of New England —from Ireland, Canada, Sweden, and Brittany — the tunes have in common the blend of melody and rhythm that makes good dance music.

No proceeds from this album will be kept by ‘Alalā Books. Details are still TBD, but it will be donated either to a contra dance- or multiple sclerosis-related fund. Paying the Bandcamp minimum will let you listen to the album in the Bandcamp app, and helps to get the word out (Bandcamp does not show freely-downloaded albums in users' "collections"). Have yet to figure out exactly how to be transparent about this, and how to publicize any resulting donations. Feel free to contact Henry via the contact form at
alalabooks.bandcamp.com for more information.
